Asteroids carry various resources in resource deposits. These deposits can carry multiple resources that naturally occur together, such as copper and silver. In this short guide, I will show you how to mine an asteroid.

Mining Prerequisites:

• Ensure your spacecraft has a mining drill installed
• A mining drill consumes a lot of rocket fuel, so make sure your spacecraft has enough rocket fuel tanks on board

How to mine an Asteroid:

1. Close in to the asteroid until it is in sensor range.
2. Select the asteroid with TAB (default key). This is important: Currently, the game has no other way to detect a collision.
3. Start the mining drill with R (default key). There is an alert popping up every time you mined a resource.
4. Wait until the desired amount of resources have been mined.

Known Issues:

• As of 0.6, you can still mine asteroids even if they are outside of sensor range, as long as they stay selected. Resource collection will change drastically in versions 0.7 and beyond, therefore this bug will disappear with it.
