Good day Pilots! It’s been a while since the last update, but AstraX 0.6, dubbed Trading Update, is out now for you to play! Collect and Trade resources in this massive update. Here is a quick breakdown on most of the features!
Collect Resources
Introducing a new ship module: the mining drill. For collecting realistic ores of different metals. You can now collect various ores of iron and copper, plus native silver and gold.
Asteroids now display their resource deposits that vary in color and shape, they indicate what ores they carry. Additionally, minerals that go together in real life will be found together, such as copper and silver ores.

Trade your Valuables
What do you do once you did find gold or silver? You sell those valuables at a trading station of course, to make some cash! 💰💰
Dock to a station, sell ores you collected and refill your oxygen and fuel tanks. This establishes the first larger game loop of AstraX!
Orient yourself with the Galaxy Map
A functional galaxy map allows you to find the nearest space stations and trade the resources you collected. It also tracks solar systems that you already visited. Mind you, this map is still a work in progress and traders are only available close to your starting position.
Observant players notice that star map and galaxy map are now merged to a single map tab. Asteroid belts are now showing up on the star map as brown areas, as well.

Easy Navigation with these HUD Improvements

Being able to focus a target via the target list in the HUD on the top left is a very handy feature that was suggested by @OtterMakeGames. Thanks for that!
Clicking on a planet now focuses the camera to it. It springs back the moment the target gets outside of sensor range. Camera movement got a lot smoother, too.
There are now gameplay hints that show up in regular intervals to help the player pick up the game.
With a new font that has a thicker outline now, buttons and text should be much easier to read.

This update is a little all over the place, isn’t it? Here are some other noteworthy features. Feel free to check the download page for more!

With the spacecraft editor introduced in 0.5 a new inventory GUI was necessary. It is capable dealing with multiple cargo modules that usually go with custom spacecraft. Click to enlarge image.
More improvements to the procedural generator: Graphics for planet rings broke some time ago, I have fixed that in this version.
Moons have more variation in their generated traits and there is more control over star generation now.

I’ve implemented a directional sound system, replacing the rudimentary old system. Enjoy thruster and mining drill sounds in all their glory!
There are some easter eggs hidden in the main menu now. Have fun finding them!
